Hello Friends! Today my class has started work on The Chess Film. The Chess Film is a 30-second to 1-minute long film. It can be about anything, in any genre, as long as it somehow involves a game of chess. We need to use all the conventions of filmmaking that we have learned so far. High/low angle shots, deep focus, shallow focus, color, contrast, rule of thirds, etc. We can use our own own cameras or the ones the teacher has for us to use.
Near the end of class we were put into groups for our film. We used the remaining time to decide who would do which job. Kensey is the cinematographer, he is the one mainly responsible for filming the movie. Justhyn is the editor, in charge of putting together clips so we have out movie. John David is the Sound/Technical designer, he adds sound to our movie because there is no dialogue. I am the director, in charge of overseeing everything and making sure we go according to plan. This is our film crew!
Next class we will be starting our pre-production research and planning. See you soon!
